If it's an amphibian and the problematic part was the undercarriage, one solution is obvious: you should also take 'amphibian' literally in the model and place it in water - that's what I did here!
The project has been around for some time now and I would do a lot of things differently today, but I'm still glad to have found this solution, especially as no two water bases are the same and their concept and construction are always insightful!

It's difficult to describe, but I'll try it this way:
"To create the water surface, I proceeded as follows: I applied Vallejo's 'White Stone' to a polystyrene surface with a broad brush to prepare the wave structure and then pressed small wave ripples into the liquid mass. After it had hardened, a very dark shade of blue was brushed onto it, which would give the subsequent water gel an appealing depth. Vallejo 'Pacific' Water" was used for this semi-transparent depiction of water. However, as the result didn't seem to have enough depth and lustre, I applied another layer of 'AK Water Gel Transparent' to the future water surface, which I also used to fix the mooring lines to the surface where they were to dip into the water. Two disused oil barrels from a Tamiya accessory kit were upgraded a little with etched details and painted as mooring buoys before being half-sunk into the polystyrene sea. After three days of working on this project on the side, the S.43 arrived at its new, 'wet' place."
