If there's ever a "really pointy aircraft" group build, Robert would be the star of the show.

Unless I am mistaken I believe this was a concept design before Lockheed's Have Blue was constructed which developed into the F-117. Correct me if I am wrong.

It is great to have you all aboard, my friends!
@Skyhiker - you are right, this was the theoretically perfectly shaped plane leaving no radar trace, yet its calculated flight characteristics were...hopeless 😉 The name was also an allusion to the famous "Hope" diamond 😄

I'm sure your finish of this diamond won't be hopeless at all, especially in the hands of a Polish expert 😉

Shine On You Crazy Diamond! Very interesting subject! Watching!

It is great to have you both aboard, my Friends! Welcome!

A truly bizarre machine. No wonder it couldn't fly. However, that doesn't detract from its attractive appearance. I'm watching 👀 its construction and looking forward to seeing what it will look like when it's finished.

Welcome, my friends! I am a bit busy with my 'regular' job, so there will be a slow progress here...

Looking good. I've got this same kit waiting in the wings. Just trying to decide how to build and display it, since the real one was just a shape for radar testing.

Thanks, my friends! I wish someone will produce the "naval" version of the F-177;

You could probably kit bash the A/F-117X pretty easily by combining the f117a and F-22a kits.
23 November 2025, 13:44
"Pretty easily," you say... If only I had enough spare time 😉

So many models to make and no time,so so frustrating, is is why our stash grows and grows.I guess it keeps us all motivated, good luck.

Thank you for your motivating words, Ludviku! I will try to find some spare time...

@Skyhiker - in fact I was considering building a paper model of this contraption few years ago 😉

Very interesting and unusual project, but you did a great job so far! 👍
I also don't think the weathering is overdone, perhaps a slightly darker panel line wash could have been better.

Thanks for your encouraging words, my friends 🙂 @Alexander - you're right... 😉

Lovely black diamond 💎
I think the weathering is just fine. Black is really hard to weather.

Can't agree more with Jan, weathering on the black canvas is a tricky topic and you managed it well 👍

Thanks for your encouragement, Cuajete! Much appreciated (and needed 😉 )

Very nice, very weird and how the hell did that get airborne?
It looks like it should have Darth Vader in the cockpit.

Thanks, Gorby! (Un-)fortunately it was only a preliminary project to find the shape that was practically invisible for radars... Notwithstanding F-117 inherited a lack of airbrakes after this project, to the best of my knowledge...

I guess it could have flew just like Wainfan Facetmobile can. Well done finishing the diamond! 😄👍

Be careful with that one. If you drop it on your foot, you'll slice your toes off! Sharp!

Robert, that's a very nice diamond. 👍
Although a little late, I wish you all the best for the new year 2026 and many more successful models.

Thank you, Ludviku! I wish you all the best for the new year too 🙂 Happy modelling!
