Mospeada Legioss AFC - WIP

Washed. 

It's an 80's kit, so the decals were yellowing badly since it's a product from over 40 years ago, so I stuck it on the window to let it sunbathe. 

I assembled the parts that needed to be assembled in advance. 

I tried out the newly purchased Finishers Lacquer Putty. Unlike regular putty, this product requires mixing with lacquer thinner, and the powder particles are very fine. 

I re-engrave the panel lines that had been filled with putty. 

The slit detail on the back of the head is not very good. 

After drilling and removing it, I cut and attached the pla-plate, and finished it by sanding. 

After removing the marked part by sanding it, I cut the pla-plate and attached it. 

After deeply engraving the panel lines, I finished sanding the entire surface. 

The missile pod has a white base with a red missile head, but since it looks like it will be difficult to paint later, I plan to remove it and cut an aluminum rod to insert instead. 

The landing gear covers are too thick, so I am sanding them down to make them thinner. 

Washed again.
Now, the subsequent processes are just a repetition of masking and painting, and there is nothing special about them. 

I roughly painted the inside of the cockpit and... 

I masked the canopy and attached it to the cockpit. 

I painted white primer(Kaleido). 

I painted the engine nozzle and machine gun gun with gunmetal.
I noticed shrinkage on the machine gun, but decided to ignore it since it would be covered by the wing anyway. 

I painted the gray parts Tamiya Metallic Gray as I pleased. 

Masked. 

Then I painted blue. 

Masked again. 

Then I painted white surfacer. 

And then I painted Gloss White. 

Final masking... 

Then I painted variable dark color. 

I Removed mask and painted panel-line. 

I painted with paint brush. 

I painted the pilot with Vallejo Express Color. 

The yellowing has mostly disappeared.
Since the stripes on the wings have been painted, they are not needed, so we can just ignore the white number 21 and move on. 

Even though the yellowing has faded, since it is a 40-year-old decal, it couldn't possibly be in good condition, so I coated it with liquid decal film.
It looks thick, but it is fine because it shrinks tremendously as it dries.
Also, even this thickness is thinner than if painted with a brush. 

I'm not sure if this is because alcohol was mixed in or if it's just how it is, but it dried with an uneven gloss.
It doesn't matter since a matte coating has to be applied anyway. 

I've finished applying the decals as well.
As expected, the decals were in such poor condition that I had to soak them in water for at least 10 minutes before I could separate them from the paper.
If I hadn't coated them with liquid decal film, they probably would have all crumbled. 

Matt coated. 

I painted the navigation lights at both ends of the wings with a brush. 

I also overcoated the pilot's visor with a brush. 

Ready to assembl 

Only now have I removed the masking tape from the canopy. 

Since there were only a few parts, assembly was really simple. 

Finished. 

It is a aircraft that I really like among SF fighter designs.
But I wonder if it's a setting error or a scale error, but it seems too small for something that transforms into a robot. 

Since the length is 13.5cm, that makes it 9.7 meters in real life... Um... That's the size of a light aircraft like a Cessna.
Even if it isn't quite the size of a Valkyrie, it should at least be the size of an F-16 (15 meters) or a T-50 (13 meters), but since it is even smaller than that, it looks awkward.
