4October 15, 2024Both members of the "Lightweight Fighter Program" had the honour of being the last aircraft to recieve their certification to refueling off the US Air Force KC-97L Stratofreighter.
5October 7, 2024This is the part I'll be working with.
I need to modify them with the pylon from the fuel tank pylon in my kit.
6November 4, 2024Obviously I started on the cockpit.
I don't plan on changing much of the aircraft but the cockpit I decided to modernise
7November 4, 2024The idea is to have modular MFD's on either side of the instrument panel and HUDs mounted ontop of the dashboard.
8November 4, 2024Apparently I still haven't painted the MFD's.
9November 5, 2024Now that's 1 big pile of weight!
10November 5, 202470grams of weight are needed!
11November 5, 2024Now she's all buttoned up!
The Legendary Franky Day Models says this kit has no fit issues.
This must be all my fault as I have large areas that need filling and sanding.
12November 7, 2024Photo showing the MFD'S
13November 13, 2024I removed the HUD's to add the extra bit that should be on the instrument panel.
I didn't take a picture but I also added the baseplate for the HUD and then the glass so it's all there.
14November 7, 2024A dry test fit.
15November 7, 2024This will be her home.
16November 13, 2024Starting to build the rest of the model now.
17November 13, 2024Wings built and engines coming along nicely.
18November 13, 2024I had to get creative to line up the control fins on the flying Boom.
I.also made my own custom decals to give it that HHrAviation feel.
19November 13, 2024Decals on the Props have been completed.
20November 13, 2024Everything's built.
That's alot if filling that needs doing around that cockpit!
21November 19, 2024Sprayed using Halfords "Ford Stardust Silver" sprey can over Poundland's Matt Black base.
22November 22, 2024I've painted the black nose section and All that's left now is to paint the rest of the boom operators window silver before gloss!
23November 22, 2024Reds on!
24November 29, 2024Only a couple of things to do now but I do overall consider her finished!
25December 2, 2024Onto the next process on the KC-97R.
26December 2, 2024I took a refueling drogue from the Revell Victor, I used a candle to bend the fuel line.
