A few pictures of the current state of progress open this presumably rather short construction project. Although: the new kit from AMP is really nice, but it does have its challenges! These include a level of precision that gives pause for thought in some places.... One thinks a lot about filler and sandpaper 🙂

A few new and rather daring shots of the flying body. Slowly but surely, the whole thing is nearing completion. However, the glazing will (hopefully) be much more precise thanks to decal framing, and the remaining improvements should also increase the overall accuracy.

There was a bit of a running start, but actually, I was getting more and more enthusiastic towards the end. Well, enthusiasm is something you have to put into perspective with what AMP has put in the box this time.

I always loved this flying potato, and all the other lifting bodies - important steps to the path leading to the Shuttle... Nice to watch this getting the Roland treatment! 👍

Thank you for your kind words,, mates! The fascination is all mine! The next project in this class will be AMP's new X-20 'Dyna-Soar', which will be launched in the coming days.

Bughunter saw it coming – and now it has actually happened: the M2F2 Lifting Body project has indeed come to an end. It wasn't without its challenges, but it was great fun nonetheless. The fit isn't perfect, and I would definitely recommend checking the original so that you can make a few improvements on your own initiative. One part that should not be taken from the kit is the nose probe. If I can be proud of anything, it's that I dared to tackle the representation of the measuring probes on the nose: the nose probe itself is made of turned brass and a needle tip, and the horizontal and vertical indicators come from the etched parts box.
Now I'm looking forward to the X-20 Dyna-Soar...
Thank you for your interest and your comments!
