Strange things have been seen on the workbench over the last few days... Monty Python's 'holy hand grenade of Antioch'? A hip flask on a scale of 1:6? Well, the answer is in the title: it's Mikro Mir's 'Turtle submarine from 1775'!

Now it is finished, and over the course of the day I will show construction photos and then also pictures of my interpretation of the first operational submarine in history.
The kit is... rudimentary. Many of the details are the result of my improvisations, but that didn't detract from the fun of it – quite the contrary!

The 'Turtle' is finished: a surprisingly small model; riding in this barrel would definitely not have been for anyone with claustrophobia. If there's one thing I'm proud of, it's the reconstruction of the drill: here, yarn was glued in a screw shape into a bed of tough Ca glue around the component to create a drill shape. This resulted in something resembling a drill form. I am very grateful to Mikro for bringing such exotic things to the workbench!

Yes, definitely a good idea—and one that's worth it! 🙂 The nice thing is that you can/must let your imagination run wild with your own interpretations here. There are no original plans for the 'Turtle'.
