A single image kicks off this build report. The parallel construction with the Fulmar is interesting; for me, it's quite an interesting comparison.
The same applies to the Special Hobby kit as to the MPM Fulmar: straightforward, but a joy to build! You won't see much of the interior due to the closed canopy, which puts the relatively rough detailing into perspective.

A few new pictures of the Firefly; slowly but surely, we're starting to see recognisable shapes! Have I mentioned that I really like these Special Hobby kits? Down-to-earth, stable shapes, useful components, and there's no shortage of fun to be had with the putty!

...Progress on the Firefly too! Installing the clear parts was the only weak point in both kits so far, both here and with the Fulmar. Well, it was quite a challenge... 🙂

A few new pictures here: the 'Sky' on the underside has been applied, now it's time to start masking!

Here are a few updates on the Firefly! Tomorrow, I want to seal the whole thing with clear varnish so that I can apply the decals afterwards.

It now looks as though I will be able to complete another model this year: the Firefly made it easy for me in the final stages of construction and did not resist being quickly brought to completion. Here are a few final construction photos. In its current state, the weathering is complete, the landing gear and antennas as the last two major assemblies on the model, and the excellent metal gun barrels are in place. Now it remains exciting to see what it looks like under the masks; quality and fit are the only major shortcomings I have to complain about with this otherwise beautiful kit...

Hello mates, with these pictures, I can—still in time this year—finish building the Fairey Firefly Mk.I. I have enjoyed working on this model so far, even though some filling work was to be expected. Inserting the clear parts was particularly challenging. This mainly refers to the fit of the front cockpit. Otherwise, Special Hobby offers a solid product here, an ideal starting point for refinements if desired. I replaced the seat belts and added the brake lines, everything else was 'OOB'.
I wish you all a happy New Year and a good start to 2026!

Great finish and superb presentation 👏 The Firefly is such a beautiful brute of a plane 😀
Ps. Guten Rutsch, Roland!
