As usual I used no putty but plastic and CA for filling gaps. Attachment via 2x 0,6 mm wire.

Before this task I had a bit of respect, because the hull in the rear area becomes conically narrower.

Overall, it worked very well. I wrapped the piece of plastic around a round stick and preformed it in a pot with hot water.

One of the complicated tasks in this project. The engine (R-975) has a smaller diameter than the R-1340, so that the front fuselage looks completely different in the area of the front edge of the wing.

At next I will seal the rough surface with 1200 leveler of Mr. Color.

The last big hurdle of the project is taken: the fuselage section in front of the engine. It was surprisingly fast to model / carve the part between the two templates.
Today I airbrushed two layers Surfacer 1200 from Mr. Color, filled/sealed the fine holes of the ureol and I am very satisfied with the result.

The work preparation was worth it. The dry fit of the templates for transparent parts fit exactly. I glued the parts with Future. Amazing stuff!

The elevators are from Monogram, the rest are the vacuum components from Sierra. I think you can't see that the model was made from a vacu kit 🙂🙂

The engine has exactly the right diameter. Regardless of this, I had to shorten the cylinder heads a bit by 0.4 mm, approximately, so that the engine fits into the too thick cowling. I have sanded these thinner anyway, but that was not enough.
