Fieseler Fi 156 Storch strip down

I could get hold of one of those rare kits. 

not being able so solder yet, I superglued everything, which was quite fumbly at times. 

One or two details at the cockpit were added 

RLM2 is the color of the frame. Wooden parts were painted acrylic buff and received a more wooden appearance with oils afterwards. 

Eduard wants you to build the strip down kit with a close engine cowling. In my eyes this contradicts the idea of a strip down kit somewhat. So I decided to look for an engine - and found one.  

The engine fire wall and the oil tank were scratched and after the nerve wrecking assembly of the forward flaps I could call it done. 

 

 

 

 

 

I wanted to shoot some better pictures for quite a while.
I find this bird tricky to photograph, or is it just me?! 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

For a long time I wanted to give this bird a base too. Now - after receiving a tailored base and deciding on a layout after a wee bit of pondering, I am good to go. 

Started with a figure. Unfortunately I don't remember who produces it. Gotta check the paint job tomorrow at daylight again. For today it'll do

Time consuming details. Maybe I will color the forklift red to have some more contrast. 

And a few motivational shots before I enter the final stage 

 

 

Gras done, figure placed and some pigments on the tarmac. Losing patience. So better to continue tomorrow.

Stained the base, fixed the new plate, gave the grass a matt varnish to kill the shine and painted the forklift red.

With the last details added I call this one done. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

After three bases I didn't like in the end and had them discarded I am finally happy with this little vignette.

After pondering for - literally - years whether to display that bird with or without a propeller I finally opted for one after I managed to replicate that metallic shine under the green that I was after.
