Zlin Z-526AFS „Żelazny"

The kit offers two versions for the instrument panel:
A) a flat plastic part + two layers of preprinted etched parts
B) a 3D plastic part + decal.

I decided to use the B version because of the better “depth” of the plastic part.  

 

 

Lightening holes in the rear spar are represented in the kit as relief. I drilled them “out”.  

The fit of the moveable surfaces (flap and aileron) is perfect. No gap! 

The cowling consist 4 main parts plus bulkhead and engine relief. The main parts fits nearly perfectly. I intend to install both exhaust stacks after painting the cowling red. White plastic as support is well visible.  

The same situation on the lower side: perfect fit, no putty required.  

I fixed each wing with two tiny drops of CA (on the front and rear) and glued them with ethylacetate.  

Sink marks fixed: filled with CA and plastic, sanded smooth and restored panel lines and ribs.  

 

Instead etched part P5 I used a piece of flattened 0,23 mm wire (both ends not flattened for better alignment in 2 z 0,25 mm hole). 

Unbelievable: not even a week since the beginning of working on this kit and today I have airbrushed the base color! 🙂. The plane is indeed really very small and simple. Usually I do not choose white but a hue which is quite similar to the end color: a mixture of light grey and red.
By the way: this little vise accompanies me as the third helping hand in more than 20 years🙂 

 

 

I just inspected the result of yesterday's airbrush session and removed the masks from the glass parts. I was very surprised how clean and without lint or dust the red succeeded🙂. Exactly the brilliance I wanted. 🙂
