I never saw the TV-show, I only knew the item from the Airfix-cataloge. And as a kid I always wanted this kit. Had to wait 50 years to fulfill my dream 😉

My nickname years ago, when i had non grey hair was Captain Scarlet.
Its the only Gerry Anderson thing i liked. I built this kit in 76, aged 11. Going watch you relive my youth.
The 1980 stamp on the fuselage is misleading, perhaps a rejig of the mold.

As you said: I just had a look at the timeline, the original kit is from 1968, in 1980 it says "new parts" - which one ever?

Around 1980 Airfix retooled some kits from normal to Snap fix or their particular "snap 'n' glue" to encourage more kids. Their Spitfire 1a and an Me109 were part of this. I have a feeling that the Angel Interceptor might also be part of this group. Would explain the 1980 stamp?

Above is 1981 retool of this

Only to make some location pins bigger for snap fit. You still needed glue for the smaller parts so you might wonder what was the point?

Just realized, my profile picture was me the same year I built the Angel Interceptor. 1976!

Currently building the old Airfix kit from the 70s myself....good luck. Looks very good so far.
