MetalEarth ECTO-1 Ghostbusters Wagon
September 18, 2024OK - Taking a break from the De Lorean - reorganise my desk accordingly - MetalEarth tools at the ready
September 18, 2024Close up showing the new subject - instructions on the desk - parts list in the reading holder - Metal sheets at left.....GO!
September 18, 2024Oh dear - this is going to involve A LOT of very small parts
September 18, 2024and more - all the "stuff" that goes on the roof rack , I guess
September 18, 2024Here's a trio...
September 18, 2024and another trio
September 18, 2024and here's the whole bunch
September 18, 2024Some close ups of making ONE of these parts - rolled the part around a 3.2mm rod - used small cable ties to help hold that pose & allow for the pin inside to be secured, by way of a "pick" down the barrel! - finished off the job by seating the part with the rod inside in the "Small Shop" Rolling Set plate. Voila!
September 18, 2024Building the roof rack
September 20, 2024Roof rack populated - very busy
September 20, 2024Rear bumper very tricky, requiring more work than one of the bends could cope with - it separated.
Time for some CA
September 20, 2024Two light bars for the roof
September 20, 2024created a rough template for the bumper bend - worked well
September 20, 2024Making the wheels - thanks to 'The Small Shop' for the perfect dowel size!!
September 22, 2024All the wheels done, and attached to "axles"
September 22, 2024Not the prettiest of "faces" - This was very hard to assemble!!
September 22, 2024First idea of the size of this model?!?!?!
September 22, 2024a little montage of the tail-light & fin build - just under an hour to wrangle this together!!!
(and there's still another one to do................)
September 25, 2024Roof completed alongside the LHS panels
September 25, 2024Door handle are insanely small, but they look good, especially in place.
September 25, 2024LHS panels and bonnet built
September 25, 2024RHS panels built - I've been reenforcing these with CA
September 25, 2024Panels and bonnet mated to roof - this is a very flimsy setup
September 25, 2024close-up of the combination
September 25, 2024rear end with taillights became a bit of a mess - not happy with this, but you onl;y get ONE shot.
September 25, 2024Attached the rear bumper, and it split under the stress - bugger
September 25, 2024Starting on the extra "furniture" attachment
September 25, 2024All of the upper accessories have been installed - they hide a lot of the dodgy bits
September 25, 2024and from the LHS - again, I have CA glued most of the pieces due to the flimsy nature of this model.
September 26, 2024The Big Merger - 10 PE pins to go into 10 PE slots along each side.
September 26, 2024Takes a bit of persuasion, coercion, pleading....coffee!!
September 26, 2024The end result is OK........from a distance!! Not impressed with the way in which this builds up - there's no internal structure, accentuating the flimsy nature of this model - that said, I'm sure it would "COMPACT" well, should I get the urge.
Disappointed with this attempt, but wont be trying any MetalEarth like this again. Will take it to Tuesday club meet then Chris' shop for display - if he wants it!!!

If previous MetalEarth subjects are anything to go by, this should be fun!
Trying to make something curved out of something flat is always...........................................challenging!!!!
