BMW Z4 Hatsune Miku 2014 - WIP

Washed. 

Engraved panel line to deepely and sanded. 

The front and rear mesh grilles are blocked and the mold is shallow, so it needs to be modified. However, the rear has a complicated shape and the pins for joining the lower plate are located on the inner side, so it is troublesome, so I decided to modify only the front.
 

I pasted it onto the etching mesh and cut it out leaving a little margin. 

Now that the molded mesh has been removed, there are pins on the inside of the front to join the lower plate, but fortunately, when I cut them off, about 2/3 of them remained, so there is no problem joining the lower plate. 

Next, cut the plastic sheet to an appropriate size... 

I created steps so that I could stick the mesh at the same depth. 

It will be attached like this later after painting. 

The vents on the bonnet were two piece, so I glued them together and then applied putty. 

I noticed this detail on the box art, but it was omitted from the kit. 

To make it roughly similar, I cut out offof the grill's vertical bars and drilled a hole in the back plate. 

Then I'm thinking of coloring and fitting similarly shaped metal parts. 

Sanded it. 

This is a car that uses a lot of carbon, but it would be difficult to express everything, so I decided to express only a few visible areas.
So I painted the areas where I wanted to express carbon in glossy black, and the rest in matte black.
The glossy black is the new GGX paint from GSI that I used this time, but it doesn't look as good as I thought.
I think the Ueno Black that I used before is better. 

I forgot to paint the inside of the body shell.
And I painted the rear grill and the front windshield area around too. 

Masked. 

Assembled roll cage for painting. I pressed it down because the parts didn't fit together well. 

White Surfacer. 

And, I painted it in glossy white.
The side mirrors are in two colors, top and bottom.
They are supposed to be attached with decals, but I was worried that it would be annoying to attach them, so I mixed green with reference to the color of the decal and painted it. (blue arrow: bright green)
I will have to paint the pink one more time later. 

It was only later that I realized that this was a tow belt. 

After I cut it out, I trenched it with guide tape. 

It's not very clean since I can't sand it down, but I guess it doesn't matter since I'll be doing decals and clear coating anyway. 

I folded the red line tape and put it in. I used 1.5mm width now, but I think it will fit perfectly if I use 2mm width later. 

The hole was blocked, so I unclogged it. 

After I've trimmed all the parts, I can keep a GT wing, two sets of sleek side mirrors, and a rear diffuser as spares. 😛 

I also painted the pink parts by referring to the decal. 

The remaining parts were also painted with airbrush. 

Carbon patterns were painted on complex-shaped parts using stockings. 

Now I have to apply the decals, which are the alpha and omega of this kit. It is very difficult because it is fragmented and has to be applied in 3-4 layers, so I have to be determined. So I played around for about 3 days watching Netflix. 

I bought this kit used, and although the decals didn't yellow, I was worried because the paper was stiff, as if it had absorbed moisture and then dried. So I cut out the parts that I wasn't going to use and tried attaching them, and fortunately, it seemed okay.

Compared to this, this is in really good condition. 

It took a long time for the decal to separate from the paper. It felt like putting a decal that had been wet once and then dried back into water. 

The side would seem to be more complicated than the bonnet, so I applying carbon decals for relatively. 

Done.
Unexpectedly attaching the wing was more difficult than the front splitter. 

Since the shape is simple, I did vector work to utilize the product of new generation I had. 😉 

This is cutter plotter. 

The size was cut too small due to a miscalculation of the dpi. 

I cut it again and pasted it on, but even though it was white decal paper, the base color showed through. 

So I roughly cut out just the text part from the enclosed decal. 

Done. 

As expected, attaching it to the side was a bit more difficult. 

After attaching all the base layers, I tried to attach the pink line decals, but the doorknob looked awkward.
The manual says to cut the door knob part, but the picture below shows it painted just fine.
After looking at it again closely, I realized that I should have cut it in the middle of the doorknob instead of cutting off the entire doorknob. 

I had no choice but to paint it with a brush.
Since the surface height difference is so extreme, it will be difficult to attach on the decal, so this might be better. 

The all decals were split, but for some reason the arms weren't split. 

Anyway, I cut it appropriately and attached it. 

Finally, attached all decal. 

The sidewall decals on the tires were a bit glossy so I applied a matte varnish. 

The banner on the windshield was too matt, so I painted gloss varnish this time. 

The marked areas are supposed to have decals applied, but I thought it would be too stressful, so I just painted them with a brush. 

This is the part that needs to be painted with the most various colors. 😉
The buttons on the dashboard you see in the back come with decals that you can stick on them. (but I just painted them). 

Brush works complete 

I painted the edges of the kidney grille with AK Super Chrome.  

The texture was expressed by dry spraying matt clear.
 

1st coated. (UV cut clear) 

The surface condition was so bad that I did some easy rough sanding. 

Main coated twice. 

Sanded again. 

Final coated. 

Last sanded. 

Polished done. 

I removed the masking tape that had been stuck on for a long time. However, as expected, it was messy. 

I re-masked the window frames to paint them black (I think it was originally a CF pattern). 

The decal came off while I was removing the masking tape.
I guess I'll have to paint it roughly similarly with a brush. 

Ready to assemble~ 

I applied multiple layers of decals and clear coats, so the panel lines were buried.
So I drew them with GSI's new product, the narrow type marker. (Recommended) 

Assembly was relatively easy. 

For the interior, just assemble it to this extent, and then... 

I made this because the kit didn't include seat belts at all.
I only made shoulder belts because the people who made them before said, 'When you finish it, you won't see it at all' 

Now I wrap the shoulder straps around the back of the roll cage after that the interior is fully assembled, and finish it off.
As expected, I can't see it very well already. 

There is no painting guide in the manual, but I searched and it seemed like the bezel was black, so I painted it. 

After attaching all the parts that needed to be attached to the inside of the bodyshell, I additional coated it with wood glue to prevent it from falling off. 

I used hemispherical beads instead of clear parts for the headlamps. 

Attached face parts. 

Painted with MusouBlack(like Vanta Black) 

Attached rear parts. 

Combined upper and under body. 

Attached front splitter and canard. 

This time I skipped the foil work on the side mirrors.

I forgot to paint the inside of the grill black. I'll have to do that later. 

I lightly coated the metal decal with UV resin. 

I lathing an aluminum rod with rotary tool , but drilling the hole was harder than engraving it. 

Now finally, I finished it off by attaching the antenna. 

All done!!
