Feel warmly welcomed, my friends! I'm happy to see you all 🙂

Nice start 👍
Good luck with the decals. They are robust and good covering colors but on the thick side due to the UV printing method. At least in my experience once in 1:48.

I'm in, Robert. Good luck with the racer conversion.
You've chosen a truly beautiful early Mustang racer. I'm curious to see how the decals work.
I also ordered some from Draw Decals for a future project.👍

Feel warmly welcomed, my friends! @Marko - she is beautiful indeed, that's why I have started this project (I'm still too shy to begin work on HPM kit...)

Coming along nicely. My Thunderbird decal sheet arrived this past week. Super fast turnaround from DrawDecal. I have a couple other projects I want to finish first, then I'll be doing my own version of this beauty.

That looks really good.
I'm really looking forward to the decals.👍
What kind of machine is that in the background? It looks very interesting.

Wanted to ask exactly the same - what is that lil silver thingy? 🤔
17 July 2025, 19:10
I was wondering, who would be the first to ask about it 😉. It is just a little concurrent "fun" secret project. Maybe you can guess 😄
(I have just noticed that I installed the hood in the wrong direction... damn!)

It looks like a modern Formula 1 racer, but is too big compared to the Mustang. 🤔
18 July 2025, 00:14
Hi there, Marcin! I like it too - looks even better in reality 😉
18 July 2025, 07:16
Nice color. Nice work on rescribing lost panellines, they are looking nice and crisp.
18 July 2025, 16:42
As I promised the decals seems to give a good coverage! Decals make a model look a lot more lively 👍
1 21 July 2025, 16:45
I always have liked to put the decals on the model, even when I was a kid and did not paint them 😉 I fully agree with you - they make a model look lively.

Thank you all for your support, my friends! Much appreciated!

That blue.. LOVELY work! Starting my first racer, an easy build of Bardahl Miss.

Thanks, Casey! I hope you will post the photos of your build here at Scalemates. I am going to build Mira Slovak's Smirnoff Bearcat 😉

Thanks, Timmie! (surprisingly enough, it is a "Thunderbird" not a "Blue Angel"... 😉 )
1 24 August 2025, 09:21
I guess this is in real much smaller compared to the pictures on my monitor. So it will look in real even more impressive - nice result!
1 24 August 2025, 11:28
Thank you both for your kind words, my friends 🙂
@bughunter - in real it is about 2/3rds of the photo of the starboard side on your monitor, I suppose 😉

Thank you all, my friends, I feel happy that you like it 🙂 @Alex - the next in line is a racer too, stay tuned 😉

What an interesting project! It's a shame that the rise of the jet engine took away from the ability for these piston-powered wonders to contribute to aircraft development in the same way those of the interwar period did so crucially... Beautifully painted, doing absolute justice to Thunderbird

Great work and, most importantly, an unusual topic 🙂 Congratulations

Quite nice. Did you like the Draw Decal set? I'm considering doing this with the Accurate Miniatures racer boxing.
19 December 2025, 05:36
Thanks, KyMustang! Generally, yes - they are a bit thick and rubbery (i.e. flexible), so the pieces with many 'blank' places, like a checkerboard on the tail need more attention.
