Porsche 917k No.26 - WIP
July 5, 2025Anyway, I removed the mold where the hook was and drilled a hole. The cover was thick and it was sticking out more than the body, so I sanded the surface to roughly match it.
July 5, 2025I'm planning on using etched hooks on the front cover, but I'm not sure which pin to use since I don't have any reference material.
July 5, 2025This time, I didn't washed it first because I'll going to apply etching.
July 5, 2025Since the jaw are separated, I glued it and filled it with instant adhesive.
When filling the gap, it is convenient to use an instant adhesive with a high viscosity.
For Axia's instant adhesive, the first number indicates the purpose, the number in the middle indicates the drying speed, and the last number indicates the viscosity.
July 5, 2025There was also a sunken area in the marked area, so I filled it with instant adhesive.
July 5, 2025There seem to be many variations of the 917k, but the car I'm building has to fill in the marked parts.
July 6, 2025The rear of the body is also separated, so I need to clean up the attachment surface. but I think the clip will get in the way. So I made a silicon mold for duplicate before removing the clip.
July 8, 2025I also coated the adhesive surface on the back with instant adhesive.
July 8, 2025The car I'm trying to build needs wings, but when I attached the wings from the etched parts, the width of the wings was too short.
July 8, 2025The wing length is 20.7mm.
July 8, 2025The body's attachment surface was 22.45mm (the photo shows it as 21.5mm, but it probably moved a little bit while shooting)
July 8, 2025The middle was cut to increase the wing length.
July 8, 2025And I overlapped the pla-plate and increased it by about 1.7mm. It was 0.05mm short, but I left it in consideration of the thickness of the paint when painting.
July 9, 2025The car I wanted to create would require modifications to this as well.
July 9, 2025This time, the gap was deep and the sunken area was wide, so I filled it with poly putty.
July 9, 2025The modified wings fit well.
July 9, 2025It fits so well now that I think I'll need to make some space later to account for paint thickness.
July 10, 2025Sanded.
July 10, 2025When I tried to temporary assemble it, the fenders (front fenders too) on the top and bottom did not fit together properly. I wondered if the 917k was originally like this, so I searched, but it couldn't be.
July 11, 2025I found another part that needs to be filled.
July 10, 2025Fixed.
July 11, 2025I don't usually modify handlebars, but the spokes on the handlebars in this kit were so thick that I decided to use etching.
July 11, 2025After cutting the spokes, I assembled them using only the center part.
July 11, 2025I trimmed the etched parts that needed to be assembled.
The wiper was drawn in an ambiguous direction in the user manual, so I folded it in the opposite direction and then folded it in the opposite direction again, and it broke.
So I transplanted only the blade etched part to the original part. (I think I like this better)
July 11, 2025The quality of the transparent parts wasn't very good, so I sanded them.
July 11, 2025And I also polished it with a compound.
July 11, 2025This kit includes masking tape for the windshield, but it is not pre-cut. And the shape is not quite right for the front windshield.
July 11, 2025Since the masking seal for the headlamp wasn't included anyway, I decided to make it myself.
July 11, 2025Applied.
July 11, 2025The inside of the body shell and some parts was painted black. This time, since there were etching parts, I painted them with Vallejo's Premium paint.
July 12, 2025I had a hunch that something needed to be fixed, so I used the Multisurfacer in Modeling to paint over it.
July 12, 2025As expected, there are places to modify.
July 12, 2025There were some areas that were not sanded as well.
July 12, 2025This area also had an uneven surface.
July 12, 2025Same problem.
July 12, 2025Required fixing too...
July 12, 2025After cleaning up the surface, I painted it with white surfacer.
July 12, 2025Since the decal for this car is not available for sale, I had to make it myself, so I drew it in a vector program. Since it is an old car and there is no data, finding the information for the sponsor mark was much harder than drawing the picture.
July 12, 2025I printed on normal paper and did a fitting test.
It fits well. 🙂
July 16, 2025Now I painted Gloss White.
July 16, 2025Masked.
July 16, 2025I'm not sure exactly what color the actual point color is, but I think it's fluorescent red.
But I forgot that I used up all the fluorescent red I had the last time I mixed the colors.
So I mixed fluorescent pink, fluorescent orange, and magenta that I had to make something similar. (The bottle on the left is Gaianots' enamel paint.)
July 16, 2025Painted point color.
July 17, 2025Since I was ready to apply the decals, I printed them out on decal paper this time.
July 17, 2025I stick them all on. There weren't many so I put them on quickly.
July 20, 2025After drying, I did the first coat with UV cut clear.
July 20, 2025I finally washed all the parts.
July 20, 2025I was trimming the parts and pre-assembled some parts.
July 20, 2025The injection quality of the tail light was not good, so I sanded and polished it.
July 20, 2025I removed the plating to replace the fuel filler handle part with an PE one.
July 20, 2025I think I'll paint it chrome and then glue it like this.
July 20, 2025When I duplicated the rear clip, the rod wasn't molded. So I drilled a hole and inserted a suitable steel wire.
July 21, 2025PE only had two sets for the rear wheels, no sets for the front wheels.
July 21, 2025I had no choice but to roughly cut it up and use it.
July 23, 2025Attached base of tail light.
July 23, 2025When the muffler is attached to the holder, a pin pops out through the hole.
July 23, 2025So I cut off the pin and drilled a deeper hole.
July 23, 2025I painted all the remaining parts as well.
July 28, 2025Overcoated. Super Clear III
July 28, 2025I also painted the remaining parts.
July 28, 2025Overcoated again.
July 28, 2025Sanded.
July 28, 2025But the decal was too thick and it peeled off.
July 28, 2025I roughly painted it with a brush and then coated it with clear coat again.
July 29, 2025Polished.
July 29, 2025I painted with Vallejo.
July 29, 2025I used chrome tape.
July 29, 2025Ready to assemble~
July 31, 2025I don't know if it hit something, but the paint came off, so I roughly fixed it.
July 31, 2025I painted pannel-line.
July 31, 2025I assembled the parts that needed to be PE.
July 31, 2025I painted the seat belt with AK's Real Colors Markers.
August 2, 2025Now I started assembling it in earnest.
August 2, 2025Front interior done.
August 2, 2025Engine area assembly done.
August 2, 2025I cut and attached chrome tape to the rear side of the tail lamp.
August 2, 2025The rivets are expressed with metal stickers. They look a bit large in the photo, but they're not that out of place in person.
August 2, 2025Interior and under body done.
August 2, 2025I don't know when, where, or how it was stained, but there was glue on it. 🙁
In this case, it is better to let it dry completely before handling it rather than wiping it off hastily.
August 2, 2025Problem solved.
August 3, 2025Attached windshield.
August 3, 2025The rivets on the headlamp cover were expressed by attaching metal stickers.
It looks a little big in the photo, but it's not awkward in real life.
August 3, 2025Assembled frunk.
August 4, 2025Attatched head lights and wiper.
Since the wiper blade did not touch the windshield, I applied a small amount (about the volume of a mosquito's tear) of adhesive to secure it in place. 😉
August 4, 2025I had to trim it down a bit because the frunk wouldn't fit snugly against the body due to the marked area.
August 4, 2025I attached the rear clip that had been removed.
August 4, 2025finally, I finished it.
August 4, 2025Is it pretty? 😉
August 4, 2025Thanks for watching.
