[Moderoid] Megazone23 Garland -WIP
1August 24, 2025This time, I made a robot for the first time in a while.
To be exact, a robot that transforms into a bike.
2August 24, 2025I carefully read the manual and found a runner made of ABS, and indeed, the joint parts were made of ABS. However, since this is a transforming robot, the paint job needs to be durable, so I'll be priming it anyway, so it doesn't really matter.
3August 24, 2025It always starts with washing...
4August 24, 2025The parts corresponding to the outer armor were washed once more after sanding and panel lines.
5August 24, 2025The pre-painted transparent parts were in poor condition.
6August 24, 2025I sanded it down and smoothed it out with a compound.
7August 25, 2025This time, I'm going to try painting the included figure.
8August 25, 2025Sanded.
9August 25, 2025Preparing to paint. Too many parts...
10August 27, 2025Since it is a robot that moves and transforms, I thought the paint had to be strong, so I used Vallejo Premium paint as a primer.
The black color is similar to tire black, so matte black parts are satisfactory with just this step.
11August 27, 2025The red parts were also painted with the same paint on the inside, and the white parts were painted lightly on the outside because they had a lot of unevenness on the inside.
12August 27, 2025The gray parts used gunmetal from the same paint series.
13August 27, 2025After painting it, I realized again that there are really a lot of parts.
14August 29, 2025I covered the white surfacer on the outside of the white part.
15August 29, 2025I also painted the red parts with white surfacer.
16August 29, 2025Now that the basecoat is complete, I can begin the actual painting process.
The assembly instructions list the parts as gray and dark brown, but I changed them to metallic colors of similar tones.
17August 29, 2025I also painted the transparent parts, and changed some of the parts I had previously painted metallic to slightly different metallic colors (though the difference was minimal, which was disappointing).
18August 29, 2025Gloss White.
19August 29, 2025IPP's Italian Red II
20August 29, 20251st. gloss coat.
21August 29, 20252nd. gloss coat.
22August 29, 2025I was going to paint the white part with gloss, but I changed my mind and removed the gloss with matte clear.
23August 29, 2025I painted pannel-line.
24August 29, 2025I painted the figures and small details with a brush using Vallejo paint. It seems like painting figures just doesn't suit me. Hahaha
25August 29, 2025And... ready to assemble. 🙂
26August 30, 2025I started assembling it according to the assembly instructions. It was a bit difficult to assemble, and the paint was thick, so it was a bit tight during assembly, but so far, there have been no issues.
27August 30, 2025But that thick pin was stiffed so much that it eventually snapped.
I thought about it carefully, and it seems like the longer the pin, the tighten it is.
28August 31, 2025It was repaired by drilling a hole and inserting a steel wire.
From then on, I unconditionally carved to enlarged the hole and applied lubricant(for Tamiya Mini 4WD) to the pin part while assembling.
29September 1, 2025After the repairs were completed, I was able to move on to the next step without any problems.
30September 1, 2025Upper body assembled.
31September 2, 2025Assembled arms and legs.
32September 2, 2025And then I assembled all remaining parts.
33September 2, 2025What the......... No, why is this still there?
34September 2, 2025This is the part that corresponds to the wheel (or cover) of the rear wheel, but I think I missed it when I panicked when the axle broke earlier.
That's why the wheels were spinning nicely. 🙁
I tried to disassemble it again, but I gave up because I was afraid the broken axle would break again. Fortunately, it's barely visible anyway.
35September 2, 2025Anyway, I finished assembling it.
36September 2, 2025Now I have to transform it into a bike, but the process is very complicated.
The work isn't finished yet 😉
37September 3, 2025Transforming....
As expected, it is not easy.
38September 4, 2025After fiddling with it a bit more, it took the shape like a water strider.
39September 4, 2025Transformed.
I touched it hard with my hand that was covered in grease, and all the shine disappeared.
40September 4, 2025And, I attached the provided stickers and also attached the metal lettering that I had personally prepared separately.
41September 4, 2025Finally, assemble the main character that I painted with care(?) and...
42September 4, 2025After boarding, it is done.
43September 4, 2025This is a kit I never want to build again.
I really hope Hasegawa will recreate the bike in a detailed model. (AKIRA Kaneda's bike too)
44September 4, 2025Thanks for watching.
