Album info

About the aircraft:
The UT-2M is a heavily modernised UT-2 developed in 1940 (1941?). The modernisation covered many components. The most visible changes were the angle of the wings and the outline of the vertical and horizontal tail. The new design was easier to fly and, most importantly, easily recovered from a spin.

About the copy:
After World War II, the UT-2 and UT-2M were used to train pilots at the Officer Aviation School (OSL) in Dęblin ("School of Eaglets"). They were used for basic pilot training. The model shown here has a paint scheme based on a photograph from the 1949 Aviation Day celebrations ("Polski samolot i barwa. 1943-2016", p. 264).

About the model:
Broplan has released the UT-2M model using vacuform technology. I don't think I would have finished it if it weren't for the parts I had previously developed for the UT-2M. In addition to the engine cowling (modified to fit the contours of the Broplan model fuselage), propellers and landing gear, I also used 3D printing to create the seats. As with the UT-2 model, I used my own design decals and a 3D-printed engine.
