Pink Tank
October 26, 2021I want to share with you an old project I did as a request of a friend who wanted a pink tank. Just to color any tank in pink was no option of cause for a serios modeller. So I did my research. And that is what I came up with: A T-34 located in London and painted as part of an Art happening.
October 26, 2021Dragons kit is lovely. But to build it out of the box? No way!
October 26, 2021Modified exhausts
October 26, 2021Homemade auxilliary tanks on PE supports taken from Eduards PE set.
October 26, 2021Turret casting structure done with Mr. surfacer 500
October 26, 2021Some more detailling
October 26, 2021The tracks of the kit are impossible. Voyager offered a solution to my taste.
October 26, 2021individual link PE tracks in scale 1:72. My kind of stuff.
October 26, 2021The result: superb.
October 26, 2021Ready? Oh no. Wrong wheels.
October 26, 2021Those come from MR Modellbau and come closer to the real thing.
October 26, 2021But casting was awful.
October 26, 2021Axle holes were off center. So, them wheels really gave me a hard time. Nowadays I would go for OKB Grigorov.
October 26, 2021
October 26, 2021Now it is ready for some camoflage
October 26, 2021Pink base paint.
October 26, 2021
October 26, 2021
October 26, 2021
October 26, 2021
October 26, 2021decal was selfmade from the fotos available on the internet
October 26, 2021
October 26, 2021After a light wash with grey the tank is ready for the dio.
October 27, 2021It was clear from the beginning, to put this tank into its natural habitat. Meaning, to model the real estate where it stands. Here you see a screenshot from Google Earth.
October 27, 2021And here a Google Street View caption.
October 27, 2021My layout of the corner real estate.
October 27, 2021fencepoles were bent from styrene slates and colored
October 27, 2021Foam sheets helped build the house wall
October 27, 2021clay was used to create the brick wall.
October 27, 2021
October 27, 2021bricks were colored individually and plaster of paris served as mortar.
October 27, 2021after some weathering
October 27, 2021The top was done with sandpaper.
October 27, 2021I used putty for plaster and styrene sheet for the roof.
October 27, 2021That looked too dull
October 27, 2021So I used sandpaper and profiles to create this roof.
October 27, 2021
October 27, 2021Now the house wall is almost ready with its Banksy-Grafittis on. Those Grafittis appeared later, when the tank already wore another color. But I liked those, had the pics from the net modified for my needs by my brother and created the decals.
October 28, 2021Back to the dio. The plants (and rope) I wanted to use for the gras.
October 28, 2021Preparing the base. Sidewalk already advanced.
October 28, 2021putting plants to simulate plants. 🙂
October 28, 2021Done. Took a while but I am happy with the result.
October 28, 2021
October 28, 2021Some color on
October 28, 2021Real estate done.
October 28, 2021I skipped the tree which stood on the left side as it would have blocked the view.
October 28, 2021
October 28, 2021
October 28, 2021
October 28, 2021
October 28, 2021
October 28, 2021Stompies playground
October 28, 2021
October 28, 2021
October 28, 2021
October 28, 2021The fence is actually the only aspect that did not turn out the way I wanted it. In parts it is too slack and the barbed wire does not look too convincing either. But apart from that, I am quite happy with the result.
October 28, 2021Yes, the colors look bright, but if you compare it with the first pic I think that is fine.
October 28, 2021
October 28, 2021
October 28, 2021I actually added three Preiser civilians but obviously forgot to take some pics afterwards. Meanwhile the pink tank has been handed over to my friend and was received with a warm welcome.
