Battleship Bismarck construction report.

The beginning has been made.

I think I'll really finish the model this year. 

We continue with the rear deckhouse. Here, too, a lot of scratching has to be done. 

The first traffic boat has taken place 

Now colored handkerchief is used again. These will be the canvas covers for the signal flags. 

I think the covers are impressive. But it will still take hours to get them all connected to the signal platform. 

All covers in place. 

I solved the attachment points for the many ropes with ladders that were cut in half. Once I've secured it, I bend the ladder rung down.
Unnecessary sprouts are then removed. 

The signal platform has come into position 

All lines on the signal platform are pulled. 

And the famous paper handkerchief is used again 

The tarpaulin is ready. 

The deckhouse is now quite far and has a break for now. I'll now take care of the rear 38's and the last cable rolls. 

Now all 38's are finished. 

The Arado is also ready and can go into the hangar. 

No sooner said than done.
The plane is pushed into the hangar on the rail system. Or out. I won't know until I've finished the team. 

The crew is on deck and pushes the bird out of the hangar under supervision. Final adjustments have to be made to the jacks with the hammer. 😉

And of course the next level of railings. 

We continue with the bridge wing. It's fantastic how many parts Pontos made this out of. 

You can hardly get any closer to the original

Now the front 15' towers are being completed 

On to the middle towers. 

I still had to make corrections to the bridge wing because Pontos had forgotten something here. This sheet was used to close the bridge wing.
And when extended, like mine here, it of course prevented the sailors from falling. 😉 

And with that we go back to the rear deckhouse. First fill it with life a little 

And the main mast is now complete. 

Today I glued the last large section onto the hull, the rear deckhouse.
Now all that's left is the small stuff. 

And finally the mizzen mast was set and rigged. 

While mounting the 37mm double flack, I noticed that Pontos had once again messed up with their research. The ladder to get to the rear deckhouse is missing. 

The railing was cut up and a ladder was fumbled in. 

The last 10.5 cm guns have also found their place. 

So that the threads run parallel, I built a kind of scale. 

And so the two long-wave antennas are on the mast. 

That was nerve-wracking. 

Now we'll make a stop while rigging. Now I equip the chimney gallery with searchlights and anti-aircraft guns. 

The last two searchlights are in the gallery. Insane wealth of detail from veteran models. 

Finally the armament is complete. 

The last thing that came onto the ship was the 20mm anti-aircraft gun. 

Now it's the turn of the cranes and a bit of rigging. 

To the crane. First I scratched two cable drums. OOB just naked role. 

The crane body is already finished and there are still endless components. 

All components sanded and ready for painting. 

Both cranes are now in place. It took a lot of nerve to pull the strings again. 

Of course, a little scratch work was also a must. The lamp and crossbar so that the ropes do not hit were retrofitted. 

And the rigging is checked off too. 

One last little update before I go on vacation. The rear dinghies that were still on deck in April 41 are also attached. 

After my vacation I finally made a little progress again. The last dinghies in the davits have come onto deck. A PE set from a destroyer in 1/350 had to be used for the rope drums. 

Let's breathe some life into the model. 

First made 20 sailors for amidships.

The bow got its railing. It was really tricky around the anchor. And another sailor in action! 

The cleaning crew to scrub the deck is also on board
