Scratch built 1/200 Prince Madog (1968)

Half circle iron bar added (annoyingly a bit wonky on this side) and marking for port side portholes. Positions taken from photos as I only have drawings of star board side.  

Portholes drilled on port side.  

Main mast attached in place with Uhu glue. Mast is brass tube.  

Bilge keels added. Made form plasticard. One is a bit wonky, but only just.

I have done quite a lot of the fore mast now. I'll add the lamps after the main hull and structure colours are painted.  

Starting to build the 3 winches. 

Adding more details to the winches and anchor windlass. I used Aber PE hand wheels set.

Another coat of primer and then ready for painting. Some parts still need to be built, but they can wait. I need to design the decals at some point too.

Off-white (white with yellow added) for the upper hull and super structure over the pre-shading

Some more painting done. Touching up the airbrushed white with a brush looks awful. Not sure how I will improve on that.  

Bit more progress. Davits mostly made.  

Weather station to of the mast now made. I thought this would be impossible for me to make from scratch, but glad I did it now.  

Wind instrumentation on mast 

Starting to build the self inflating life raft canisters. I used round rod and sanded the end round. I then used half round profile styrene strip to create the ribs of the cannister.  

I used photo etch ladders to make the cannister racks.  

Dry fitting the unpainted three raft and rack assemblies. I think they will look fine. They took maybe two hours to build, but worth it. It is satisfying building items from scratch with styrene. 

Disaster. Stern fractured when squeezing in the deck.

Getting close now to finishing. Still plenty to do but there is light at the end of the tunnel.
