With these pictures, I'm kicking off a project that seems to be turning out to be more interesting than I initially thought... It still needs a little modification, but the basic kit is well-designed, well-equipped—including masks for the clear parts—and fits reasonably well.
I mounted the tail section on two wire stilts; it's worth taking a closer look at the original here.

A few steps forward. In addition to the rotor head and its mechanism, the DFS 230 needs just one more small detail to become the Fa 225: a rod was mounted on the left side of the fuselage that was part of a unwinding mechanism for the rotor's "pre-start rotation." How that worked is a clever story that will be told elsewhere. In any case, I've represented this with wire rods. Now I'll reinforce the landing gear with wire, and then it's time to add some color! The aerodynamic fairings on the rotor beams are molded from cured superglue.

There's also some news regarding the "Luftlande-Autogyro": the surfaces are now complete, and I've made quite a few parts myself. This includes all the handholds – bent wire inserted into drilled holes – as well as the struts that brace the landing gear to the fuselage shoulders. I found the kit version far too flimsy and not at all like what I'd seen in the (few) original photos. So I raided an unused biplane kit and filed down these struts to make them look more authentic. Otherwise, I like the Venturi tube on the right: not one I made myself, but a really lovely, tiny bit from the 3D printer (from the 'aftermarket').
Now it's time for weathering and wear and tear – the surfaces still look far too smooth.
