Skyhiker - I assume that by "fuel tank gauges" you mean the white and red 'sticks' protruding from the wings. Those were landing gear extension indicators 🙂

Album info

In 1950, three Yak-17 fighter jets were imported to Poland with the hope of launching their licensed production. Only one of them, with the side number 29, was assembled at the airport in Radom, and in August of that year, it was the first jet aircraft to be shown to the public in Poland (flights over Warsaw). Licensed production of the Yak-17 was quickly abandoned in favour of the newer MiG-15, and so the 29 became the only flying machine of this type in the Polish military aviation (the other machines were never assembled).
