An Argentine Navy Lockheed SP-2H Neptune reconnaissance aircraft located the British destroyer HMS Sheffield during the Malvinas Argentinas War on May 4, 1982. The Neptune's crew detected the enemy ship's radar signal in the Argentine Sea—approximately 180 km southeast of Puerto Argentino—and transmitted its exact coordinates to Super Étendard attack aircraft, enabling the historic launch of Exocet missiles.
