I'm here too. "It is expected to be a pure assembly with little modification" 🤔 whatever it means when you're building 😉

oh that's really cool work you did with the aluminum rod, what did you use as a chisel?
29 April 2025, 08:23
@Matteo - What you see in the photo is a lathe blade.
At first I used a lathe blade, but I don't know if it's because the aluminum is so soft, but it doesn't cut sharp 🙁
So, unlike in the photo, I carved with a diamond file, cut with an art knife, and polished with sandpaper.
I would like to recommend Oilstone.

Enjoying so far, not sue3 I'm organised enough to do 3 at once I'd cross contaminate them 🤪
🍿 ready for more action

Like you I'm not keen on the overly done camber so am watching how you do this, looks excellent

Very nice work so far and a handy tutorial.
I also went through a patch of epic disasters with paint. I also use Mr. Color Levelling thinner and waited longer (at least one week) between spraying sessions. I must also add that I used enamels. My attempt at repairing small imperfections was not successful at all and I ended up stripping thee paint back on that particular panel and start again.

Nice job on your "batch" of builds. That's how I try to build to. Thank you for showing how you fixed issues along the way.

Your eye for detail is amazing. And I admire your painting skills.

@Spanjaard - I skipped the explanation because my English skills are lacking. 😉
The electric drill I used had a lowest rpm of about 7200 (no load), but the torque was too low, so it kept stopping when I was polishing.
So I had no choice but to increase the rpm to work, and as a result, the paint would melt or peel off.
So I looked into electric screwdrivers because they have good torque.
Considering the resistance generated during sanding and the heat generated during friction, I guessed that a moderate torque and 1000 rpm would be enough.
(I think the compound would fly out everywhere at 1000 rpm, but...)
So I searched and found that most bar-type electric screwdrivers were around 200 rpm, and after searching a little more, I bought WORX's WX242, which had the highest rpm at 300 rpm.
And when I worked on it, 300 rpm felt a little lacking. For plastic polishing, 500 to 700 rpm seems appropriate and 0.15 Nm of torque seems sufficient, so please refer to this when purchasing.

your english is just fine 🙂
so the last screwdriver is also not addecuate?

I couldn't find an electric screwdriver with a spec of 0.15Nm~more and 500~1000rpm. For reference, my satisfaction level is 80%.
I also bought a product called EX15S which is much smaller and has a max of 0.15Nm and 460rpm.
However, it has a 4mm shank, so I need a 4mm to 1/4 adapter to use a 1/4 inch chuck.
I'm a little more satisfied with this product. (90%?)

Thanks guys.
@George - I always polished them by hand too, but this time I had to polish three of them at the same time, and my arms got tired, so I had to use a electric tool. 😉

The wheel stance has worked really well, thanks for sharing and well done

Thanks mates.
It wasn't hard when I made the 3 Minis last time, but it was a hassle to work on 3 racing cars at the same time. I'll try to avoid working on racing cars at the same time in the future. 😉

Great builds! It's always a pleasure to follow your works. You pay enormous attention to the details and there's a lot to learn for a rookie. Thanks for the very good explanations and great pictures with arrows pointing out what you're commenting. If there's an accident happening you fix it in a brilliant way 👍

What a colorful group. Congratz on your successful "Batch Build". Thanks for sharing your trials and tribulations throughout the build. I am sure I would have accepted or simply bailed on the whole process with as many mishaps you eventually corrected.

I love the tast picture. Great results! I always enjoy reading your steps.

Another adventure with MS K concluded. Going home for a quick cleaning of clothes, replenishing of food and drink, and then I'm ready for the next one.
Thanks for this one!

thanks a lot for sharing all the sweat and tears going through three (!!!) kits at the same time. I did the same for the Lancia Delta and I might steer away from such an impressive amount of work again. So chapeau to you! Impressive work and congratulations!
