It still needs a little modification, but the basic kit is well-designed, well-equipped—including masks for the clear parts—and fits reasonably well.
I mounted the tail section on two wire stilts; it's worth taking a closer look at the original here.

In addition to the rotor head and its mechanism, the DFS 230 needs just one more small detail to become the Fa 225: a rod was mounted on the left side of the fuselage that was part of a unwinding mechanism for the rotor's "pre-start rotation." How that worked is a clever story that will be told elsewhere. In any case, I've represented this with wire rods. Now I'll reinforce the landing gear with wire, and then it's time to add some color! The aerodynamic fairings on the rotor beams are molded from cured superglue.
